Against Sex Trafficking

There is this movement that  I support.

It’s called Men Against Demand(M.A.D)

Before I begin to talk about the movement let me present to you some facts and figures with regards to Child and Women Sexual Trafficking.

  1. Every 10 minutes a human being is being sex trafficked
  2. The counted number (and these are only reported numbers) of total people sold for sex every year in the world is 28 million in 2010.
  3. In India, the majority of sex workers are in the age range of 9 to 14 years. Though you can get hundreds of girls sold for sex even as small as 2 to 5 years.
  4. From a recent records, the Indian sex workers on an average cater to 35 men per day. And almost all who participated in this survey said, that they have been tortured by their clients for sadistic pleasures like banging their head on the wall,  chili powder in their vagina, beer bottle in their rectum and worse unmentionable.
  5. There is only one state in our country which has an Anti-Trafficking Policy in action. And that’s Andhra Pradesh. The police mostly does not know how to deal with the sex workers or pimps or others in the absence of clearly laid out policies and governance.
  6. Most these girls are pushed into this profession by coercion/treachery/torture/betrayal. They finally get absorbed into it and reach a level of submission and many a times eventually the victim becomes a perpetuator of the same process.

This is a heinous organized crime. These workers are made and created because there is a DEMAND for it. If there were no customers for these prostitutes, no takers for the pornographic videos and materials these girls will not be created or forced into such a heinous life. It is difficult to rescue them out from this life and even more difficult to deploy them to a normal life as there are hardly anybody there to recruit them, or allow them to live next door, or love them to marry them. They have no other choice but being raped day in and day out by the cultured/educated men for the money that their pimp keeps and if they get some, it goes to feeding the power authorities.

One way to fight this problem is to involve men to be part of the solution. I am doing just that here. Let there be respect for the women, it was a woman who gave birth to you, and it will be a woman who will carry your baby.
