New Life

"In that book which is my memory,
On the first page of the chapter that is the day when I first met you,
Appear the words, ‘Here begins a new life’.” 

And a new life has began..
Got married to my friend of 12 years, a man who has seen me through good, bad and ugly times in sad jeans and hot pants. The man who stood by me, when even my shadow took a hike, and to the man I so love and love to annoy!

We got married last month on the 21st in a beautifully planned Temple Wedding held at ISKCON temple, Juhu Mumbai. Unlike many Indian weddings this wedding was short, sweet, enjoyable. My husband and I had a great time marrying each other and the guests enjoyed themselves, showered their love and blessings and even liked the food. Importance of celebrating your most important day of life with the people you truly love and know is that there is no baggage, no extra formality..claws are tucked in and halo is out!



Anyway, what followed our wedding was a " Wedding getaway" at Rennaisance Powai.. made special with dinner with my closest pals and the legal wedding (registered wedding) at the Thane court the next day. The marriage procedure at the RM Court deserves a blog post by itself but all I can say is, it is the most unromantic place to get married. It is as impersonal as peeing in a public toilet! But essential it is. When you gotta go..you gotta go .. Lol

Thing about marriage is that, you not only enter the world of your spouse but even the family of your spouse. I was inducted and oriented in the life of the Subramaniams. And even though I am an HR professional by experience I cannot even begin to compliment the 'feel good factor" or the infectious warmth of my MIL. Staying with them for a week added to my joy, my excitement and limited knowledge of managing home.

Now as I write this, I am 5 days old in Muscat, Oman. A country where my husband works and which is my residence now. Who knew that when New life will begin, it will begin in a new place, new country but with the same old charm and comfort of being with the man who you love and who loves you back..

I wake up very early these days for my Yoga sessions, but morning today was something else..it was dark and pouring. Doing Om Chanting with my   eyes closed to the rhythm of raindrops hitting the walls of my balcony was a divine experience.. I am not a Victim of my Circumstances

Every episode of Satyamev Jayte leaves me speechless, yet pumps so much blood in my heart and make me want to hug myself and feel proud of me. I see all those survivors, who faced challenges whether it was domestic violence, forced abortions, sexual molestation or humiliation due to dowry demands. But one thing prevails, that they were lost when they endured that torture but they did not succumb to it. It takes that one strong willed NO, which ends all further pain. It's a different story that the No in many cases comes after several tortures, humiliation and painful incidents..But it does come. When I look at them, who bore these tortures and have resurrected their fate, those who grew stronger than their tormentor and have healed themselves, I give a silent hug through this thin air from me to them. I have been there, luckily not in such extreme challenge but yes being violated and snatched off my self esteem and safety..And I swear to God, it was not easy. Repeated attempts...

It took me 30+ years to be this AWESOME!

So today is the youngest I will ever be in my life because come tomorrow and another year will be added to my Age.  This thought revealed some not so happy emotions from that hidden corner in my mind (or heart! Can’t make one from the other ). Am I getting old? Hair colour are not just fashion anymore. They are here to stay! I can’t help but look closely around my eyes, to find those lines. Are they wrinkles or just lines due to excessive smiling? And what about that much hyped body clock? Since I am going to be another feet up in my 30s scale, is it time to make most of the limited egg supply in my ovaries? Why do comments like, “you don’t look a day older than 24 make me want to hug and dance ? I didn’t even care how I looked when I was 24! Am I entering the time when metabolism will go downhill and I may no longer remain that skinny girl, other girls were jealous off? Should I start dressing up more responsibly now and let go of my half a dozen hot pants and 2...
